These shoes are not that old, and have served me well (and I will admit that I bought them at Target, but don’t tell anyone), but suddenly the sole of the right shoe decided it could no longer stay glued to the top of the shoe, and I was just flappin’ away as I walked down the sidewalk in front of the building. The noise grew louder and louder as I got closer to the building, and I realized that this was simply not going to work. I began shuffling my foot as I went through the cafe to get breakfast, and realized that there was no way I was going to be able to walk back to my office like this.
So I did what any normal, sane person would do. I took my shoe off and carried it, as I limped back to my office. It’s very awkward carrying a bowl of granola and yogurt, a large coffee, and a large black shoe, having only 2 hands. It’s also difficult to walk when one side of your body is at 6 feet, and the other side is at 5′11″.
So, if any of you saw someone walking down the hallway with only one shoe on this morning, thanks for the stares and the smiles. Rest assured I’m leaving at lunch to go to the Sketchers outlet for some new shoes.
Update: here are the shoes I purchased…
