Having completed the 2006 NaNoWriMo, back in November of this year…I really got the hankering for writing at length.
Usually, I’ve limited myself to poems, short stories, or editorials, but after completing two novels in November (one just over 50k, the other over 16k), I found that I enjoyed writing long stories. And so, I’m taking the plunge again.
In the middle of last night, as I was desperately trying to ignore my back pain and get to sleep, a title came to me. Unfortunately for you, I won’t be sharing the title yet, until I’m a bit more in to the novel and can share some basic plot elements with you.
But for those of you who are teeming with curiousity, I will now tell you a little bit about the first two novels I’ve written, since up until this point, information has been rather sparse
.
Novel 1: Beurre de Potiron de Bonbon – (aka. Sweetie Pumpkin Butter): I won’t go into the details of why I chose to put the title in French…that becomes clear as the story progresses. Basically, I describe this novel as a humorous adventure story, with four main characters. Celine & Pierre are brother and sister, and are part of a secret Canadian law enforcement unit. Meringue & Barley, are high school sweethearts who get pulled, unwittingly into a dastardly game of corporate espionage.
Novel 2: Box of Hair, a fairy tale: This is your basic fairy tale, beginning with “Once upon a time…”, and ending with “and they all lived happily ever after“, with a bit of magic, suspense, and adventure in the middle. This story stars Carrina, a princess, and Flame, a hero, and perhaps a witch or two.
And that’s all you get for now. The first two novels are currently “in editing”, and I hope to have them ready for primary consumption in the first part of 2007. I am also considering turning Novel 2 into an audio book that you can “podcast”. We’ll see how that idea goes. Until then, I’ll leave you with this…
Novel 3: (insert title here): This story is either a drama, horror, mystery, adventure, or love story, with one or more main characters. ![]()
