American IdolOk folks, it’s time for the reveal. Here are your top 24 semifinalists. Time to get those voting fingers prepped and ready.

Frankly, I don’t think we’ve seen half of these folks covered on the actual audition shows. I know it’s tough for the production team to know who they should spend time on, in advance, but this is one of the big complaints that many contestants have. They don’t get enough air time, and so America never gets to fall in love with them, and subsequently vote for them.

The msnbc article (referenced below), also correctly points out that the guys seem to be moving through based on personality, more so than vocal talent. Yes, it’s a generalisation, but if you look at the list, and compare it to some of last year’s guys…I think you’ll agree as well.

I also want to comment that I’m just not feeling it this year. No one has really stood out in mind as the next American Idol. Last year, even in the audition shows we had people like Paris Bennet, who just completely blew away the competition. I just don’t see it this year. I mean, even My Grammy Moment winner Robyn Troup didn’t even make it into the top 24.

I wonder if the judges are having similar concerns that they won’t have sufficient talent for people to vote on…but it remains to be seen. It’s time for the next round of competition!
