American Idol - Season 6 - Top 10 | Homo sarcasmus - the official blog of Heath L. Buckmaster

top10.jpgWell folks, we’ve come to the Top 10 (yes I know this isn’t a picture of the top 10, but after tonight’s show, who cares). These are the folks that get the priviledge of going on tour with Idol this year, and that’s a show that I’ll be skipping when it comes to Sacramento. Mostly because I know I’d be walking out of the stadium as soon as one or two of them start singing. But let’s move on.

We started out the show with a little diddy from Peter Noone. What the hell was he singing, and what the hell was that freakish dancing? The shaky voice and the Taylor-like moves had me cringing, and I will admit, I hit fast forward on Tivo and watched him in fast motion until the commercial came. Sorry Peter, it was a no-go for me.

Ford commercial - “Another Saturday Night”. Chris and Blake covered in soap suds…I’m all about that.

Big ArmsBrad Garrett joins the Top 11…but fortunately, he’s kicked off first. I really hate these little plugs for someone else’s show. It’s one that I will most certainly NOT be watching. But did anyone notice Chris’ incredible arm muscles during this segment. Holy Moly!

Ryan began the eliminations, 3 at a time, those folks being safe. Suddenly he had called everyone’s name except…..Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards. I was shocked. Someone please explain to me how Phil, Sanjaya, and Haley were not in the bottom 3? Please? Someone? Please?

Of ANYONE that I would have guessed was going home, it wasn’t either of those two people, especially after the judges raved about Chris’ performance (although that’s sometimes a sign of death in the top 10 rounds). Once again, we have to wait to find out until…after the break.

Lulu was up next with an absolutely kick ASS performance of “To Sir With Love” - can I just say that this is the type of performance I want to see Gina do! Had she done this song, in this style last night, it would have blown the house away…c’mon Gina, take a cue from a pro and get rockin’! I was all smiles after this performance…brilliant.

Now for the results…Stephanie Edwards is out. Her performance last night wasn’t great, I’ll admit, in no way did she deserve to be out before Sanjaya or Phil. Last season, the Top 10 all deserved to be there…this season, I can’t make that statement and keep a straight face. This season should sign only the Top 5 to the tour, as long as it doesn’t include the people I’ve already mentioned.

So basically we’re getting: Haley You Naughty Thing Scarnato, Chris Timberlake Richardson, Blake Beatboxer Lewis, LaKisha Jennifer Holiday Jones, Phil Intentionally Bald Stacey, Jordin 17 Year Old Sparks, Whitney Sanjaya Houston Malakar, Gina Rockerchick Glocksen, Christian Contemporary Sligh, and Melinda Season 6 Winner Doolittle.

Alas…another week, another tragedy on this wretchedly addictive show. Don’t forget to check out Idol 2007’s coverage of the Top 10. Cheers all!

Sweet Lord in heaven, I’ve forgotten all about Blake whats-his-name and Chris R-you-still-there. I want me some Grupo Mania, and I want me some now! They look good enough to eat. Several times.
