We’ve finally made it to the Top 10 America…Motwon night on American Idol, and for the most part the performances were pretty good.
Here’s the rundown…
- Matt Giraud – Let’s Get It On – good vocals, good stage presence, nice spin on a classic
- Kris Allen – How Sweet It Is – so cute, great vocals, great interpretation adding a little rock to the song
- Scott MacIntyre – You Can’t Hurry Love – nice soft intro then kicked it up, vocals were a bit shaky at times, a bit “shouty”, great piano playing though
- Megan Joy – For Once In My Life – painful vocals, crazy cool outfit (matched her tats), voice cracked all over, crowd looked completely bored
- Anoop Desai – Ooh Baby Baby – smooth vocals, great falsetto, good feeling in his voice
- Michael Sarver – Ain’t Too Proud To Beg – too much makeup, too happy for a song that needs aggression, ending was AWFUL
- Lil Rounds – Heat Wave – Fringe! Big Hair! Love her!
- Adam Lambert – Track of My Tears – love the look, very Elvis-esque, interesting use of falsetto throughout, very emotional, amazing performance
- Danny Gokey – It’s All Right – more like it’s all wrong, lots of shouting, didn’t take Smokey’s advice to sing the backup singer vocals, sounded like he was straining on the high notes, no no no
- Allison Iraheta – Papa Was A Rolling Stone – very swanky song, great look, gave me chills, knocked it out
RESULTS: as I predicted…Michael Sarver is out of the competition. This doesn’t bother me in the least. What does bother me are the horrendous group sings, awful Ford commercials, and parading a blind man around the stage. Have a little dignity American Idol.
