White Wine Sangria (Serves: 4-6)
2 bottles of chilled white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc)
2C strawberries / blueberries / raspberries / blackberries (choose 1 or all)
3C white grape juice
1 bottle Champagne (optional)
1 bottle flavoured sparkling water (optional)
There’s nothing better on a warm afternoon than a sparkling White Wine Sangria. This beverage blend can be made sparkling or still based on preference. Start with your chilled white wine – it’s perfectly ok if you get inexpensive wine for this beverage – no one will be able to tell. Do NOT use Chardonnay for this drink or we will be most upset.
Pour the wine into a large service pitcher – note I said service, not serving. You will use two pitchers for this recipe.
Add the white grape juice. You cannot use red grape juice for this drink – that belongs in our Red Wine Sangria only.
In a large bowl, crush the fruit until you have a good amount of juice. It is important to use fresh ripe fruit for this drink to maximize liquid content. Add the crushed fruit to the wine/juice mixture and give it a good stir. Put this in the fridge and let it sit for atleast an hour.
When you are ready to serve the beverage, pour the product through a strainer and into your serving pitcher. It is ok if some small pulp gets into the final product, but we’re more interested in the fruit essence than the skins.
This is the point where you can optionally add champagne or sparkling water to give it effervescence, but this is not required, only encouraged. Your guests will love you for it if you do though, so try it both ways and see which you prefer.
Add additional white grape juice as preferred to sweeten the product, but keep in mind that we have chosen sweeter white wines as a base, so be careful that you do not make your blend so sweet that guests will get a sugar rush.
We always serve this WITH ICE in a highball glass or goblet. Garnish with a fresh fruit flag as desired.
